Stonehouse + Irons Architecture Earns ArchiTeam Medal and Commercial, Community & Public Award for Queenscliff Recreation Reserve Amenities

We are thrilled to announce that Stonehouse + Irons Architecture has achieved the prestigious ArchiTeam Medal at the 2023 ArchiTeam Awards. In addition, we proudly secured the Public, Community, and Commercial Award for our exceptional work on the Queenscliff Recreation Reserve Amenities project.

Our Queenscliff project, a beautifully executed public amenities building, stood out for its deep civic conceptualization and execution, earning recognition not just for its aesthetic appeal but also its thoughtful functionality. The ArchiTeam Medal, the highest accolade at the awards, reinforces our commitment to excellence in architectural design.

The judges’ citation highlighted the project as an exemplar of design thinking, delivering beyond the conventional expectations of a public toilet block. The clever and efficient planning incorporated shared infrastructure, resulting in sustainable outcomes. From a caravan park linen store to family bathrooms, every aspect was meticulously planned to enhance the user experience.

Stonehouse + Irons Architecture aimed for more than “a nice toilet block.” The robust detailing and warm materiality of the building pay homage to its context, with a keen awareness of light, ventilation, and overall experience. The outdoor shower and handwashing facilities take advantage of the extraordinary views, while the public seating provides a moment of respite, generously contributing to the simple joys of a holiday.

Our win at the ArchiTeam Awards 2023 is a testament to the value of considered design thinking. We believe in pushing the boundaries of creativity and functionality, and this recognition reinforces our commitment to delivering architectural solutions that elevate the human experience.

At Stonehouse + Irons Architecture, we are dedicated to shaping spaces that inspire, and this recognition fuels our passion for creating exceptional architectural experiences.
