This compact, highly sustainable home provides an oasis constant link between architecture and landscape in a coastal town. The new dwelling efficiently packs in a lot of program with a spatial generosity that belies its small footprint. Rather than vacuous open space, active areas roll into each other, creating connected living with capacity for individual prospect and refuge. A simple mid-century roof reinforces the continuity while also providing shelter from summer heat but maximising warmth in winter. Materials, both internal and external, are of muted colours and texture, reinforcing a sense of quiet and light interiors, while externally receding into the developing landscape.
